CODA Audio TiRAY Flies into Brussels Airport…

Following an extensive search for new premises, one of the world’s leading financial institutions recently signed a long-term lease on one of Brussels Airport’s iconic commercial buildings. Basing its Belgian operation in the immediate vicinity of the country’s busiest transport hub was a very attractive proposition and after taking possession of the site, the company set about a sustainable renovation project to improve its utility as well as restoring some of its former glory. Achieving significant reductions in environmental impact and placing a determined focus on wellbeing at work, the new headquarters was recently opened for business.

“The TiRAY/TiLOW combination was an ideal solution. The sound quality is excellent across every seat in the auditorium and delivers plenty of bass, even without ground subs. The system has an amazing output considering its size and its qualities enabled us to meet the challenges of the auditorium without compromising the audio. The client is very happy with the system - it has maximum impact without being visually intrusive and caters easily for the varied applications it is used for.”

Respected integrator PLAY AV was engaged to install audio-visual services throughout the building, part of which included provision for a PA system in its multi-use auditorium. The curved space is used for everything from presentations to live music and film, accommodating 190 people. The acoustically awkward oval-shaped room required a flexible, discreet system with excellent coverage. As well as overcoming the shape of the room, the team had to take into account that the ceilings would not support heavy weights, although an absence of space between the front seats and the stage also meant that subs could not be placed on the floor. A further requirement was that the system must not cast shadows on the large projection screen at the back of the stage. An ultra-lightweight, ultra-compact, flown system was the only way forward and PLAY’s Jan Ryckaert worked with Hans Engelen from CODA Audio’s Belgian distributor Viladco, to design a system based on CODA’s ultra-compact TiRAY line array.

12 x TiRAY 2-way full range line array (6 each side of the auditorium) were flown in conjunction with 4 x TiLOW 12” bass extensions (2 each side) using CODA’s integrated rigging system. 4 x CODA Audio CUE FOUR ultra low profile stage monitors completed the system. 2 x CODA Audio LINUS5-C amplifiers powered the TiRAY and CUE FOUR whilst 1 x LINUS10-C amplifier powered the TiLOW.
