Overview
HOPS8T is a high-output point source system crafted for touring applications with a discreet design.
It features a coaxial arrangement of an 8″/1.75″diaphragm driver and an additional 8″ low-frequency transducer within a bass-reflex cabinet.
This setup offers a smooth and linear frequency response ranging from 60 Hz to 20 kHz.
The system’s power handling is rated at 450 W AES, reaching a peak SPL of 131dB.
Operating with a 100° conical dispersion pattern, the HOPS8T ensures uniform coverage and
high-fidelity sound throughout its frequency range.
It pairs with CODA Audio’s LINUS loudspeaker management amplifiers, providing integrated DSP control, amplification, network remote control, and diagnostics for optimal performance and protection.
The design incorporates two aluminium shorting rings to minimise intermodulation distortion and variation in inductance, significantly enhancing sound quality at higher excursion levels.
The enclosure, made from birch multiplex and coated with weather-resistant polyurea, is suitable for various environments.

Rigging Points
The loudspeaker is fitted with various rigging attachment points, together with removable screws for attachment of rigging accessories and safety eyelets.
A CODA Mobile Suspension (CMS) attachment is fitted to the top, and one side of the HOPS8. The CMS fitted to the side can be used to attach the HL8 vertical bracket. The CMS on the top can be used to attach the H8TH horizontal bracket:
On the rear of the loudspeaker are two holes, suitable for mounting accessories such as K&M’s 24471:
There is a 35mm pole mount fitting on the underside of the loudspeaker, to allow the loudspeaker to be used on a tripod, distance rod, or flown vertically with the H8TH horizontal U-Bracket:

Amplification
The HOPS8 must be powered by a CODA LINUS Amplifier. The loudspeaker requires 1x amplifier channel. It is possible to link the following quantities of loudspeakers per amplifier channel & realise the full reference output of the loudspeaker:
LINUS 14 / LINUS 14-D | LINUS 12-C | LINUS 6.4 [Single Ended] | LINUS 6.4 [Bridge Tied Load] | LINUS 6.4 [Parallel Bridge Tied Load] |

Cable
Generally speaking, cable cross-sectional area should be as large as possible, within reason. Cable cross-sectional area should as a minimum, be 2.5mm², however 4mm² square is recommended for typical use. 6mm² cable may be required in some circumstances. Loudspeaker cable interconnections should be kept to a minimum, to avoid the effect of accumulated contact resistance. Cable gauge & outer cable sheath diameter should also be sized to be compatible with the specifications of the connectors. The following guidelines establish a baseline performance, that should result in optimal quality for most scenarios (less than 1dB power loss in cable):
HOPS8 in Parallel | 2.5mm² | 4mm² | 6mm² |
|---|---|---|---|
1 | 70 | 115 | 170 |
2 | 35 | 60 | 85 |
3 | 25 | 40 | 60 |

Maintenance
The loudspeaker should be visually inspected each time before use for any signs of obvious damage / missing parts.
A maintenance schedule should be coordinated, so that the loudspeaker and accessories are checked thoroughly, at least annually.
Visual Checks
Before use, perform a visual inspection to check for missing or loose parts / fasteners.
Check there are no bent, broken, corroded or cracked parts, including welded joints.
Ensure there is no deformation, dents, wear, holes, or missing safety labels.
Check that all screws are tightened and are not cross-threaded.
Acoustic Checks
With the HOPS8 Fullrange > Preset loaded on a CODA LINUS Amplifier, perform a slow sine sweep at a quiet-to-moderate level, to ensure the loudspeaker is free from air leaks, rubs, buzzes, and failed drivers.
Dual channel measurement software could be used to ensure polarity of drivers.
Only test one loudspeaker at a time. Ensure a quiet environment, free from background noises
